Michigan has filed at least four Cease and Desist Orders: Here are some exerpts from the copy of the Cease and Desist order filed by the State of Michigan on April 24, 1998 (public record): -"Frank J. Kelley, Attorney General of the State of Michigan, pursuant to Section 36(1)(b) of the Michigan Franchise Investment Law... and pursuant to the Michigan Consumer Protection Act...hereby orders the Respondents to CEASE and DESIST any marketing activities in the State of Michigan related to the Global Prosperity Group. If any further marketing activities occur in the State of Michigan after the date of this order, you shall be fined not more than $25,000 for each violation of the Michigan Consumer Protection Act and $10,000 for each violation of the Michigan Franchise Investment Law." There were 3 other Cease and Desist orders given around the same time to other global retailers. They read similar to the one above. I will not copy them out. ------------ On July 27, 1997 the first Cease and Desist order was given out because -"A person may not offer or sell any form of participation in a pyramid or chain promotion..." It also mentions: -"A pyramid or chain promotion is declared to be illegal and against the public policy of the state. Any contract made in violation of this section is voidable at the sole option of the purchaser..." Your state might have a similar provision; you might be able get your money back from these Global thieves. |
