Kim's IGP Experience
Thank you for having this site! It has saved my sanity! August 2001 my nightmare with Institute of Global Prosperity began. A young aquantaince (that used to sell timeshares) approched my husband at the gym. He came home excited to tell me he had found a way to "legally reduce our taxes and eliminate credit card debt". I was leary but willing to listen. He explained the rediculous ideas behind "reclaiming your identity". That the government owns a "straw-man you" which it uses for collateral since our money is no longer backed by gold. That all you have to do is fill out a tax statement instead of a W4 and you don't pay any taxes (the only was to receive this "tax statement" which is NOT a government form is to purchase the GI bullshit tapes). That since the banks make all electronic transactions the loans used for credit cards are illegal and we don't have to pay our credit cards! Red flags are flying out of my eyeballs by this point. I obviously had several questions which he could not answer. I listened to a couple of the silly! tapes and as obvious as it was to me that this was just plain WRONG my husband was eating it up with a spoon and wanting more! I talked to several people about IGP and everyone was worried it was a scam. Then came Cancun. Hubbie wanted to go in the worst way. He was convinced that all of my "negitive" questions would be answered. I refused to go but was eventually shamed into it by being accused of not being a supportive wife. What an EXSPENSIVE JOKE! If you are thinking of attending an offshore seminar DON'T!! It is the biggest brain screw I have ever seen. Day after day, from 8:00am to 10:30pm of pure brainwashing. If this were held in the US it would be shut down in a heartbeat. My husband invested in some offshore trust (I'm sure we will never hear from again) and bought every tape and "goodie" from vendors he could. They were even selling time in a hyporbolic chamber for pete-sakes! Now my husband has filed a "statement" with the IRS (I'm sure that will give someone a chuckle) and is racking up credit card debt like crazy! He has taken out money from the credit cards to invest in the stock market. So far his credit card debt is probably around 40 thousand and the stocks aren't doing well either. So, I have called a lawyer to see what my responsibility is in all of this. Luckily since the credit cards are his I will have limited responsibility but the creditors could come after me when he refused to pay which will put me staight into bankruptcy. The other issue is I'm facing a DIVORCE. The only way to seperate financial responsibility and protect myself is to seperate from my husband. I am 33, haven't worked in 8 years and have 3 children to support. So...anyone who is considering Institute of Global Prosperity...DON'T! RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION SCREAMING FOR HELP! There is NO "make 10 thousand a month by working from your home part time" free rides out t! here! IGP has completely ruined my life, my family, my finances and my trust. They should all be shot on site!!! ***I am very interested in speaking with anyone who has got into trouble with the IRS by using the "tax statement" or "credit card termination package". (I know my spelling and grammer are terrible but I'm just too pissed off to care. Least of my problems right now!) mussofamily@yahoo.com Kim |
