May 3, 1980
The proposed Constitution, printed in the April WSFA JOURNAL was
passed in amended form, and is presently in effect. The discussion
and action was voted continued until completed in special sessions
scheduled after Regular meetings.
AMENDMENTS PASSED AND IN EFFECT:
Article II B: "WSFA may sponsor an annual convention called
DISCLAVE."
Article III C: "Only members who are in good standing as defined
in the Bylaws shall hold office, propose business, or vote."
Article II C: "No part of the net income of WSFA shall inure to
the benefit of any of its individual members outside of WSFA sponsored
activities."
The constitution was passed as amended by a vote of 34 in favor, 10 opposed. (Passage required a 3/4 majority of those voting).
May 16, 1980
Article VIII of the Bylaws was amended to read "Any proposed
amendment must be signed by at least 15 members and submitted in
writing at a regular meeting. 2) Such proposal must be read at that
meeting. 3) A vote shall be taken at the next regular meeting after
the proposal is submitted and read. 4) Passage shall require a 2/3
majority of those voting."
In terms of overall sales, this year's art show was the most successful ever: 1/3 of the pieces in the show sold. The usual percentage is around l/5, or less. Of the 610 pieces in the show, 215 sold tor a total of $8,569.00. Robin Wood, Featured Artist, topped sales at $1,718.00, but the highest priced item sold was Janny Wurts' painting "Skycastle" which went for $500.00. The "Best in Show" Stein was awarded to Ron Miller by the Art Show Staff. Anyone who worked in the art show was allowed a vote for every hour they worked. Nothing was damaged, stolen or had to be paid for by the convention. All works have been returned to the artists and all artists have been paid. All but 13 artists were paid on-site. Bob Oliver's new Light stands made the difference between disaster and success, for without them, the art show space would not have been usable. We wish to thank everyone who worked to help make the 1980 Disclave art show, despite its cramped quarters, the most successful Disclave Art Show ever.
Joe Mayhew, Director
Bob Oliver, Assoc. Dir.
Walter Miles, Assoc. Dir.
Morgan Woodward, Security.
