Mr Ripley:

  Dan H-- The slow-witted Abominable Snowman's references to "George"
  and to "wanting a bunny rabbit" allude, I'd guess, to the Steinbeck
  novella and play Of Mice and Men, a story nowhere near as kind to
  the mentally disabled as the Faulkner novel.

Just so, and I thank you very much, Mr R.  Now I've got two additions
to my must-be-read list.  So why am I re-reading The Truelove?
