Format of 1/4

I'm surprised that the 2 did not display correctly.  Does this occur
in the text as well?  What browser and platform?  I can see that the
<math> version might do, as long as we are in a display equation.  At
first, it seemed like a big tool for a small job, but the job has
tended to expand a bit.  I'd better look at the WP:MATH guidelines
