I don't know what you think I know nothing about.  If the k.d. lang,
bell hooks, and catherine yronwode articles are following the style
guides, then so would a danah boyd article.  Mentioning pink
characters or funny characters is so irrelevant that I have a hard
time assuming good faith.  We are talking about a particular stylistic
variant that WP has adopted in other cases.  The only argument is that
that there is some lack of evidence that this is another instance of
the same kind of variation.  I have a hard time taking that argument
