I'm less familiar with the literature, but I'm used to running into
the term "graph" meaning "simple graph".  I've added a footnote to
the definition of graph to the effect that this sort of graph is a
generalization, often called a multigraph or pseudograph.  I hope this
doesn't bog things down, or give a mistaken impression of what to
expect from current literature, so I welcome correction from people
