Making Light: Bending the arc ::: September 03, 2010, 12:27 PM Back to the original topic, NPR had a segment last night about Theodore Parker, the 19th century abolitionist and Unitarian minister from whom Martin Luther King got "the arc of the moral universe." Parker's phrase "a government of all the people, by all the people, for all the people," from an 1850 sermon, has also been retooled for a more famous speech.
