There's a novel from the 70s (I think) called "The Hab Theory" about this.
If anyone's interested, I think I have a copy. A great disaster novel, too!

	I did read _Pole Shift_ which included Velikovsky's Worlds in
Collision theory last June.  _Pole Shift_ has more strangenesses about the
planet Earth flipping over in its orbit for various reasons.  When I got
tired of this stuff, I read Black Muslim theology for a break.
