The best way to avoid lines for the masquerade, Hugos, etc., is to have an
SO on the tech crew. You can slip in and sit with them. The down side is
they are busy doing techie things for the whole con.

Actually, there IS an easy way to avoid the lines.  Marry an award-winning
author (brag, brag).  Unfortunately, all the good ones are taken.
