Yeah, but you can't motivate the troops to fight by talking about it.
The fine- sounding speeches that the politicians make are easy tools for
lazy historians; you really have to dig into some really boring old
documents to find out  what was really happening.

As to the Civil War, well, my family is from Kansas.  "Moral" is not a
term that comes to mind.
