	Negative on this one, Ron.  Maryland never seceded.  An unauthorized
group of legislators left Annapolis attempting to convene an illegal
secession convention but they were arrested by Major General Benjamin
Franklin Butler to prevent the proposed unconstitutional act.  He was in a
bad mood because secessionists had rioted in Baltimore and fired on Federal
troops while they were passing peacefully thru the United States state of
Maryland on legitimate business.

And I never attended school in the South, unless Maryland is counted as
part of the South.

Of course it is.  The only reason Maryland wasn't a member of the
Confederacy was that Lincoln had it occupied so that Washington wouldn't be
isolated from the Northern states it was leading.  originally, it WAS a
Confederate state.
