I don't know what effect this will have, but here goes.

To all: If you know of groups with medieval interests, please pass this on
to them.

Keith, your people or groups that you know about with an interest in
medieval things might like to know about this. Please pass it on if you
can.

HEART’S EASE

The Renaissance ensemble Cor d’Hier returns to Fairfax Spotlight on the
Arts.

HEART'S EASE concert of Renaissance music
7:30 p.m. Sunday April 28
Fairfax OLd Town Hall
399 University Drive at Main Street
Fairfax VA.
Adm. $10 (cheap) at the door

This "Heart's Ease" concert by the ensemble Cor d'Hier with guest Daniel
Rippe will provide an interesting variety of Renaissance "heart" pieces for
small chamber ensemble of Renaissance instruments (winds and strings) with
or without
voices. As the title "Heart's Ease" implies, the selections here are mainly
of the "glad heart" variety rather than laments, so the music is somewhat
upbeat. The musical styles are mostly polyphonic and range from Baude
Cordier's serenade "Belle, bonne, sage" written down around 1410 in the
shape of a heart, to the bouncy dance-song style of Johann Jeep's 1605
publication and Michael Praetorius's (1610) settings of "Aus meines Herzens
Grunde" (From the bottom of my heart). It should be an interesting and
entertaining slice of musical history, and nice to hear.

Information: (703) 671-8761.
