I have volunteered to do a short netiquette and acronym list for the WSFA
chat. Any suggestions would be MOST appreciate. The list so far;
ANYTHING IN ALL CAPS is the equivalent of shouting. Used for emphasis.
Book titles are set off with dashes, i.e.: _Stranger in a Strange Land-
Short stories are set off in quotes with the title in caps, i.e.: "The Man
Who Sold the Moon"
Direct quotations are in quotes - "Ask not what your country..."
Indirect quotes are in single quote marks, i.e.: "Then he quoted Kennedy
saying 'Ask not what...'"
Incomplete sentences and quotes end in ellipses, i.e.: Well, he said he
didn't care, so...
Emoticons
:) - smiley, means this was meant nicely
:( - not happy with the situation
;) - wink, feeling saucy
:p - sticking my tongue out at you
<:0 - suprise
>:( - frown
{:) - feeling really chipper
}:( - feeling real pissed
[:\ - Frankenstein imitation
*gryn* - grin
*sigh* - sigh
*word* - whisper
Acronyms
LMHO - laughing my head off
LMAO - laughing my ass off
ROFL - rolling on the floor laughing
OMG - oh, my God
SYL - see you later
GTG - got to go
BB - by-by
WOS - waste of space
SHBKAB - pronounced shib-cab - should have been killed at birth
NOCD - not our kind dearie
CYL - see you later (some people can't spel)
WYW - what you want
I know I missed a bunch, this is a work in progress, so please let me know
all your suggestions so I can post them. If you don't want to fill up the
list with suggestions, I'm at leeandalexis at hotmail.com
