Then there's a nonacronym fannish word that's a favorite of mine: croggle, a
step worse than boggle. I'll use it in a sentence: I was croggled yesterday
when one of the swimming instructors at Fairland Aquatic Center did not
speak English well enough to tell me whether Lydia was in his class; she had
gone missing after watching a safety video, while I had been water walking.

This of course is a fannish acronym, coined in the '40s. There is also
FAFIA
(forced away from it all -- once used by those who had just been drafted).
But
in each case they have become words -- as in "gafia, gafiate, gafiated,"
etc.

Two other fannish acronyms:

FIJAGH (Fandom Is Just A Ghoddamned Hobby)

FIAWOL (Fandom Is A Way Of Life).
