Jo naput kivanuk from Hungary!

It's been an interesting two days here, though it
didn't start out very interesting -- Lufthansa lost my
luggage! At the start of my day today, I thought I
was going to have to go to the business meetings with
a longsleeve flannel shirt rather than a white shirt
and necktie (maybe I could convince them this was the
latest thing in 'business informal'?). Anyway, my
Embassy contact here came to the rescue by driving me
out to an open-24-hours Tesco department store where I
was able to buy a nice crisp new white longsleeve
shirt for the princely sum of about US$4.50. Maybe I
should do all my clothes shopping there!

Anyway, last night I was pretty down wondering what I
was going to do, but I found a nice music event to go
to to cheer me up, out at the Liszt Academy of Music.
It was a piano recital of the Polish composer Chopin's
music, and the pianist was superb. He played all of
Chopin's "Greatest Hits", too -- the "Tristesse" Etude
(Opus 10 no.3 if you're counting), the "Minute" waltz
(which actually took about a minute-forty to play),
the "Raindrop" prelude, and others. His first encore
was the grand "Heroic" Polonaise, which brought the
house down -- pretty good for Polish music,
considering we're in Hungary.

Anyway, the weather is mostly nice here, the business
meetings mostly fruitful, the people mostly very
friendly, the architecture simply fabulous (check out
some of the images in some of my online travel
diaries: http://www.jophan.org/eurodiary7 ). This is
one of my cities, and I hope you all can come here
some day to see it for yourself.

More in a few days from Bratislava.

Best wishes to all....
