The rain may lower the temperature (in two ways -- by "soaking it up" via evaporation, and, more directly, via downdrafts which bring cold air down from aloft), but it surely won't lower the *humidity*. The reverse, of course. This is all pretty academic to me. It got dark and windy and it thundered, but the storm went to the south of Falls Church, with only a few splatters for a moment to mark its passing. Like last night's, which went to the *north* of Falls Church.... I was mowing my lawn, which, fresh-cut, is now *covered* with tulip-poplar flower petals (and there are *drifts* of them in the street!). --Ted White
