Greetings from Slovakia!

The second stopover in this 2-week trip is another of
my favorite cities, but also one that tourists haven't
really discovered yet. Too bad for them, as there are
some really nice sights here (see one of my previous
travel diaries for some photos:
http://www.jophan.org/eurodiary5/ ), and good for me,
because without all those tourists, prices here are
aimed instead at the locals. Translation: this is a
really inexpensive country! A full-course dinner,
with half a liter of beer, cost about 300 Slovak
Koruna, or about $6.

One other thing about Bratislava is its location.
It's a river port on the Beautiful Blue (only it's
not) Danube River, and it's only about an hour's
travel from Vienna, where I'll be going tomorrow
(assuming I survive the traditional pub crawl
tonight). Other popular destinations, such as
Budapest and Prague, aren't too much farther. I hope
everyone will some day get a chance to visit this
little gem of a city.

Best wishes to all! (And yes, Lufthansa finally found
my luggage.)
