A quick check on the Internet found that Ditto is on
18-20 October, 2002 but it is in Toronto, Canada. (See

Toronto isn't exactly local.

There are only 52 weekends in the year and far more
than 52 conventions in this country alone.  There is
no way to avoid overlapping with something.  The best
we can do is try to avoid overlapping with events in
the nearby region (and sometimes even that is
unavoidable)

Yes it is unfortunate that some people will have to
make a choice between two conventions but that would
be the case no matter when we schedule it.
