And is a convention that attracts literate people, the same sort that we enjoy having at Capclave. Trying to avoid local conflicts is good, trying to also avoid events that would create an 'interest conflict' for people, as seems to have happened this time, is also something to pay attention to. In deciding to hold the first Capclave n the fall a number of things came into play. In some ways I still wish that we'd gone with the weekend near April 15th -- Follow Your Tax Dollars to Washington! -- because, IIRC, there's a bigger hole in the convention calender then, hotel bookings aren't as tight, and things like that. On the other hand having a relaxed, literate, post Worldcon convention is also good. So - we do what we can. Elspeth
