Newton" <bnewton at ashcomp.com> Subject: [WSFA] Re: spam, spam, and more spam Reply-To: WSFA members <WSFAlist at keithlynch.net> I have, in the last couple of years, spammed the address list at my daughter's school on behalf of their "Winterfest" (*not* Christmas!) fundraiser craft show. Fortunately, no one complained. But it would have been pretty inconvenient being restricted to 50 bcc's at a shot. We felt that it was a reasonably legitimate use of email, but that view is obviously debatable. My email package of choice is Eudora, which provides relatively flexible filtering. I currently filter on something like 110 text strings--more, actually, since that's the number of filters, and some are doubles. Many of these simply route certain mail into folders of choice so I don't have to do it manually while reading. What actually reaches my inbox is remaining unfiltered spam and the occasional unexpected correspondence from friends. Notably effective filter phrases are "nigeria," "congo," and "zaire." Barry
