I was rather impressed by one (non-WSFAn) fellow's 165 score until he mentioned that 120 was human normal on that scale. -----Original Message----- From: Candy Madigan [mailto:candymadigan at mindspring.com] Sent: Monday, July 08, 2002 7:30 PM To: WSFA members Subject: [WSFA] Re: Goldbach's Conjecture At 09:53 AM 06/20/2002 -0400, you wrote: >Ted White wrote: > > > So are you saying that "the average IQ at a WSFA meeting" equates to > all WSFAns > > averaging in the top two percentiles of IQ? > >I find that the average WSFAn is quicker on the uptake, and has a far >wider range of knowlege and interest than the average Mensan. > >As to test scores, who knows? The DC area Mensans are just plain boring. Very few of them know anything about anything. They've taken a test and have been told they are smart and clever, but they aren't. I'm not *exactly* sure what my IQ is, because I wasn't tested as a child, but I do know that it's at least 2 standard deviations above the norm. I do know what my daughter's IQ is (and please don't share this with her, because she does not have a "need to know"). Her aggregate IQ is 140. The reason it is so low is that her "processing speed" is 86. *Everything* else is well above 140 with verbal being 157. Admittedly, it is possible for a parent to have offspring that are sports, but... That's not normally the case. No, I don't know my IQ, but she got it from somewhere and looking at the rest of my family, I'm pretty sure that at least some of it came from me. Candy
