Having only just met him I didn't think it appropriate to talk about his job situation, and he seemed to want to talk about the Worldcon he'd chaired. When Ben came into the room Andy called across to him, "Have you heard the news?" Carefully, "What news? I've heard that you've left the Chronicle." "I got fired from the Chronicle." There were various negative comments about the Chronicle, with Andy sounding both a bit bitter and a bit shell shocked. He didn't seem to know what he's going to do next either. Elsewhere I heard that folks are interested in seeing what John does with the Chronicle. I gather that he's considered to be more of a professional than Andy is, and there was some thought that it might result in an improvement. Elspeth
