For those of you into gadgetry. . .Amazon.com is running some *major*
rebates on cell phones, if you also sign up for service. But the =
service
is the standard plans from AT&T, Verizon, Voicestream, Sprint & Nextel.

A couple of examples with Motorola phones: the P280 world phone usually =

sold by Voicestream for $129 after their rebate comes down to $-80 from
Amazon (with a Voicestream service contract). The V60 which is usually
available from voicestream at $199 after rebate is free from Amazon. A
particularly interesting item is the Handspring Treo 180 PDA/phone, a =
$400
- $500 item rebated down to $150. Similar possibilities exist with =
phones
set up for other providers' technologies.

This deal is good through August 5th, and is a rebate scheme--you have =
to
pay full price up front, and then ask for the rebate. I'm usually =
pretty
leery of these things, but Amazon hasn't hurt me yet.

Sorry this looks and sounds so much like spam--but we're finally going =
to
get our first wireless phone service, and I'm kind of fired up about it.
