I'm back from vacation.  My mother is mostly recovered
from the first of the operations making her 'bionic'.
When they tested the deep brain stimulator, sort of a
"brain pacemaker", she did get some benefit, which is
a *very* positive sign.  This Wednesday, they implant
the power plants and then a week or so later turn it
on.  It's strange that the idea of devices to control
the chemicals in the brain used to be science fiction
and now it's helping my mother in real life.

Anyway when I got home there was a letter for me from
the University of Maryland accepting me to Candidacy.
So I am now ABD - All But Dissertation.
