The things *you* do?!?

I just got off the phone with Daniel at the Hilton. What I've gotten
for you -- although I have to warn that it's not in a contract yet; that
has to wait until I'm done with ConJosé -

September 19th - 21st, 2003.

Can guarantee one of the three ballrooms, and will be able to tell us
which one 30 days out.

Still working on getting a corkage waiver on the suites so that we can
start attracting people such as Claire at Tor. That one is going to
require my moving up a level and talking with Daniel's boss, convincing
him that now that they've renovated the Hilton and moved it upscale, and
are going to be adding more space next year, they really should
redesignate the corner Kings as hospitality suites. I'm going to have
to do some market research to play that one, so I won't be able to do it
until September.

For Capclave 2002 I've gotten Skip Morris his suite for the East Coast
Conventions party at ConJosé. Tonight we're going to need to talk about
flyers, volunteers to help with the party, having hotel information -- I
need to know who can take a couple of packets out to California, so I
can ask Daniel to send them to the correct person -- potential program
participants, registration materials, and all the rest. We may not get
memberships from fandom at large but the party will have a lot of East
Coast people, and there are going to be a lot of SMOFs, who make up a
good chunk of our out of town members, at the con.

Keep those room registrations coming, folks! You can reserve your room
through the Hilton -

(Okay, where's the site that allows you to redirect things so that you
can use shorter URLs?)

. . . or by calling them. Daniel was *very* happy to hear that people
were going to start making reservations since we're new to this facility
and they need reassurance that we really can do the things that we've
claimed.
