Anyone in or near Mont. Co. who wants to get rid of books can take them
to the Wheaton Regional Library on Georgia Av. in Wheaton and donate
them. They will provide a receipt for tax deduction purposes, if
desired, or one can simply drop them off (in boxes) at the doors next to
the dumpster at the rear of the building anytime, even when the library
is closed. There is an overhang which would protect boxes left there
from the rain. There is an enormous ongoing used book sale there 7 days
a week, and the prices are very reasonable. The proceeds are used to
help support the public library system. Books which don't sell are
periodically offered at further reduced prices, or even for free, and at
those times book dealers show up with trucks to haul off quantities of
books. Books which cannot be sold or even given away are thrown in the
dumpster next to the door, and those who want books for free can find
some in that dumpster just about any time, except if it has just been
emptied.
