It is literary prize season. We need a little light relief from the
Bookers, Whitbreads, Daggers and so on, and here it is: the shortlist for
the Diagram Prize for the Oddest Title of the Year. The prize has been
running for 24 years, during which standards of oddity have shown no signs
of declining. The nominations for 2002 have been whittled down, by a
supremely undemocratic process, to the following six.
