"Harry Potter and the Winning Bid

An unidentified buyer described as an American collector placed a bid
of $45,314 yesterday to purchase a note card crafted by Harry Potter
author J.K. Rowling that contains hints about the plot of the
forthcoming (and long-awaited) fifth Potter tome, Harry Potter and the
Order of the Phoenix. No pub date for book five has been set yet,
though Rowling stated several weeks ago that she was doing some
"polishing" to the manuscript and that the book was very nearly
completed.

The auction for Rowling's 93-word note card was conducted by Sotheby's
in London and the money raised will go to Book Aid International, an
organization that distributes books to some of the world's poorest
