No "plots," but Falls Church has plowed its streets. I moved my car from the back end of my (long) driveway to the street Saturday. I shoveled both the walk to my house and the sidewalk along the street (two and a half lots long) three or four times on Sunday, but had to do a major shoveling job again yesterday (it was much heavier from the sleet mixture). I dug out a path from my back door out toward the drive through 18 to 14 inches of snow (it drifted -- up four steps and half a foot up my back door). I dug my car out and drove it out onto the street and then back into its spot, where it remains for now. There was another inch of fresh snow this morning, but the sun and above-freezing temperatures are melting the snow nicely, exposing bare concrete where I shoveled the walks. Old Town News was closed yesterday but I expected to go in today. However manager Dan Steffan called to tell me to take another day off. He went in and opened the shop but is closing it at 4:00 PM today. He tells me the parking lot we (pay for and) use has not yet been plowed open. --Ted White
