We live on a state highway, which means that the road outside our house gets priority plowing. And that our driveway is guaranteed to be blocked in by *lots* of snow. So I threw a tarp over the car and called our friend with the John Deere tractor. He made it to us by Tuesday morning. I got all the shoveling exercise I needed just keeping a path clear to the car and the trash bin. About six times. For those who like pretty pictures, here is a very big picture of the East coast under the storm: http://www.osei.noaa.gov/Events/Storms/US_East/2003/STMusE050_MO.jpg Hope the URL doesn't break. And some much less impressive shots of our yard early in the storm. These will expand if you click on them: http://ashcomp.com/Temperate_Maryland/ Interestingly, Strong, Lee said: > The last time that I drove to Stately Ginter Manor following a >serious snowstorm, I parked at the top of the hill and walked to the Manor. >More room up there and I didn't have to worry about skidding out of control >and having to wait for the spring thaw. > When shoveling cars out of the snow, I usually continue digging >outward until I reach the plow zone. That way, a snow plow (or snow plot) >has no ammunition to spew on or behind a car I am excavating. Barry
