A delightful ghost story about love and science is "Cybelle, With Blue =
Bonnets" by Charles Harness.

Admittedly I am prejudiced since I was goingto publish it, but due to =
problems with life, it was passed along to NESFA Press to publish.

Here's Colleen's review of the galley pages I did: http://www.wsfa.org/jour=
nal/j01/6/#cwb and here's what Gene Wolfe had to say:

"There are perhaps a thousand wonderful books. Most of us are fortunate if =
we so much as hear the titles of them in the course of a lifetime. Very =
few of us ever touch the covers of more than half a dozen. This is one of =
them. If you do not buy the copy you are holding, you are not likely to =
see one again."

It would also make a good Hugo nomination.
