I suspect this non-fiction piece by the Master himself: Whirligig World =
might prove of interest.  It may be found in The Essential Hal Clement, =
Volume 3: Variations on a Theme by Sir Isaac Newton (a NESFA Press book).

There is also this non-fiction piece"Some Notes on XI Bootes" which will =
be difficult to locate.  It's a 12 page saddle-stapled booklet produced by =
Advent as a give away to members of the 1960 Worldcon (Pittsburgh).  My =
recollection is that it dealt with planet building.  My copy is currently =
. . . so safely shelved, not even I can find it . . .
