Perhaps she hoped that you'd both post it to the list and put it up on the
website, taking care of both at once?  As webmaster and the person hosting
this list you'd be in the best position to do so, and you've been wanting
people to add to the list of current events.

As for the other, I was curious as to your reasoning.
