The velocity at impact was estimated at 'more than 300 feet per second', it was hot to the touch when it landed, and it's black and shaped somewhat like a fat pillow, though grapefruit sized. Scientists think it may have been the size of a basketball and moving at 15,000 meters per second when it entered the atmosphere, and that it is 4.5 billion years old. No mention in either article of whether it was wet, nor of the advice to dry it in an oven. The couple has been besieged with calls from meteorite enthusiasts. http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5478,9835758%5E663,0 0.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2004/06/14/wmet14.xm l&sSheet=/news/2004/06/14/ixnewstop.html . ________________________________________________________________
