I've had no problems with either Firefox or Thunderbird, and I've been using them all year on several different systems. (Heck, Firefox has been my primary web browser since it was known as Phoenix over a year ago.) The big difference between your system and mine, however, is that all of my computers have been running Windows XP Professional. As someone who supports retail software on Windows 98, it's been my experience that it's not uncommon to have one program killed by another through no fault of the first program (that is, one program can cause another unrelated program to crash). This has caused me no small amount of heartburn when trying to guarantee that my software will operate correctly. I would strongly suggest upgrading to some flavor of Windows XP since it wasn't until then that Microsoft included robust protections against rogue programs in the operating system. I would also check on a weekly basis to make sure that one of the many Windows viruses and worms haven't infected your system, especially if it's been connected to any sort of network at any time. scott -- J.
