Neither had a problem with it.

The turnout for the event was very good. WSFAns there were Ernest,
Elspeth, & Sam L., & myself. The events coordinator would like to get
more SF writers there, & now that he has this successful event, he may
have a chance. It depends upon who is out there with a new book to
promote (after all, the store sells new books . . .).

His own preferences are towrds writers like LeGuin, Disch, Powers, and
even George R R Martin with his fantasy series. So, I suspect, to make
a rather sweeping statement, one is not likely to see any Baen authors
there.

As for the reading and Q&A afterwards, China read a condensed version
of Chapter 6 of The Iron Council. In the Q&A afterwards, which I
believe you'll see in SFRevu RealSoonNow, he admitted to being a "geek"
with file folders labled "georgraphy", "monsters" and the like that he's
created for his fictional world of New Crobuzon. He's quite
personable.

All in all, a good time.
