I was thinking of eating someplace close - such as the Old Post Office - and then walking over to the Washington Monument. I'd like to get at the concert site between 7:15 and 7:30 to get a good spot. Even then it might be a little late and I don't know what sort of security to expect. I'd like to travel light (just a quilt for sitting and a bag to carry it in) due to the security, both at the Monument and the Old Post Office. So, I'm looking to get to the Old Post Office about 6:30. This leaves time to eat and gather; the food court has lots of variety. My usual strategy for this concert is to get a spot as close to the VIP section as possible and when the concert starts, grab an empty seat. Which is why getting a space early is important. Call me if you're planning on going, as I'm not sure if I'll be on late in the day. I'm getting ready to spend all tomorrow at the Mont. County Fair, for which I have only drive-in free passes left.
