I'm sure others were there, but it was too dark by then to find anyone. But we got most of the program, the highlight of which (for fans) was a showing of the 1902 "Le Voyage dans la lune", the early adaptation of the Verne novel, with live orchestral accompaniment using a host of music themes from SF and Popular music. For the first time I got the feeling that I knew what it was like for early audiences, listening to music that had contemporary cultural significance while watching the film. They should make it available with the sound track. I think there were supposed to be fourteen musical references, and I've got a possible 13 here. One more went by and I "almost" recognized it. It was a popular love song from the forties, I think. Thanks to Nikki for alerting me to it. I remember hearing, Star Trek(tos) We Can Work it Out A Little Help From My Friends (can anyone tell me what other SF project used this tune as background music?) So Long (Sound of Music) Fly Me to the Moon Also Spake Zarathustra (sp?) Twinkle Twinkle Little Star Age of Aquarius Vaders March(Star Wars) Mission Impossible Under The Sea(?)
