One of the reasons I feel so little enthusiasm for modern Worldcons is the
bureaucratic machinery that underlies it, and the people (Ben Yallow, et
al) who enjoy that bureaucracy and put it in place.  They have the souls of
mundanes, for whom Bigger is always Better.  (Yallow is on record with the
statement that he can't find enough people to make up a dinner party at a
convention of less than 8,000!)

The NASFiC is a chauvinistic acknowledgement of the fact that the Worldcon
is de facto American.
