Were those really hyphens? They were supposed to be quote marks. I was trying to be sophisticated and have them appear as distinct open and close quote marks. I know they look ok in IE, Netscape, Mozilla, Opera, Konqueror, and Lynx, always displaying as either distinct open and close quote marks, or as regular ASCII quote marks. What were you using that rendered them as hyphens? Also, he said that during August's First Friday, not September's. I don't understand why there are still two separate accounts, and why one is always reported to the penny, and the other one never is. But we've been assured that both are real. As to what to do with it, why do anything, other than end some of the more onerous austerity measures? With my personal savings, I chose to spend very little, and in retrospect this turned out to be a wise choice, as I've had almost no income in the past three years. Speaking of which, until recently I had thought my membership in Capclave was comped, as it was the two previous years, due to all the work I do for the conventions and for WSFA. I plan to make a motion tonight that those of us who wrongly thought we were comped be allowed to buy a Capclave membership for whatever the lowest price ever offered was. Since that's what I, at least, would have paid for it had someone told me I wasn't comped in time for me to buy it at that rate. Similarly with SMOFcon. I plan to continue spending lots of time doing work for WSFA, Capclave, and our other cons. But since WSFA is now wealthier than I am, I don't think it's reasonable to ask me to also make financial sacrifices for WSFA. Speaking of time, the WSFA Journal online is finally old enough to run for Congress. That's right, 25 full years. By the end of next month, I expect to have the entire second series online, after which I'll start on the large Don Miller WSFA Journals.
