Early on in this discussion , I had suggested involving SFWA in these
plans.  After some discussion with a SFWA rep, it doesn't look like a great
idea, at least not for this particular event.  It would put the local
writers in the awkward postion of contributing to the further lionizing of
authors who are already enjoying out-of-the-ordinary fame and fortune.  We
could invite them to just come along to the dinner, but even then there'd
be a have/have-not sort of situation.

My thinking now is that if we can pull off this dinner such that everyone
has a good time, we might later consider having an event (one-shot or more
frequent) for local SF writers.
