All,

Quite a few of you know I'm a member of Mensa, the High IQ Society. =A0What=
 you=20
don't know is that I'm the incoming Programs Officer for Metro Washington=20
Mensa (www.mwm.org). =A0Hmm -- that isn't going to be publicly announced un=
til=20
Saturday.

Anyway, Mensa runs this event called National Testing Day. =A0It's this com=
ing=20
Saturday, October 16th. =A0Yes, I know this conflicts with Capclave.  It's =
a few=20
hours and it's local if you're at all interested. If you want to, you can=
=20
take an IQ test to see if you're eligible to join Mensa. =A0There are locat=
ions=20
in both Virginia and Maryland to take this test.=20

Here's the link for the Virginia tests:
http://www.us.mensa.org/events/postntd_listing_data.php?state=3DVirginia

And the one for Maryland:
http://www.us.mensa.org/events/postntd_listing_data.php?state=3DMaryland

The test costs $30. =A0If you do decide to do this, please contact our test=
ing=20
coordinator, =A0=A0=A0Molyneau DuBelle, at 703-528-MENSA (or, 703-528-6367)=
 or=20
mensanmoly at yahoo.com before the 16th. =A0That way she'll know how many to=20
prepare for.

Mensa accepts as members people whose IQ is in the top 2%. =A0For what it's=
=20
worth, I think for people in SF fandom considerably more than 2% would=20
qualify.

You might find us an entertaining group. =A0That could be even more likely =
once=20
I become Programs Officer. =A0 The first calendar I am responsible for is=20
December's.

No, I don't plan on putting SF events on the Mensa calendar -- unless you w=
ant=20
me to. I would, for example, be glad to add Capclave to our calendar. =A0I=
=20
also won't be plugging Mensa on these lists. =A0This time is the one except=
ion.

=46eel free to contact me with questions, comments, etc.

Best,

Chuck Divine
