Calling me a "complete, thoroughly obnoxious fool" is not constructive criticism. I have no idea what makes Chuck think I want to be "King of the WSFA Universe". I've never run for club president or con chair. I have no idea what I have done to get him so upset with me. I thought I was being courteous when I told several people how to walk from Metro to his house, rather than asking him to drive them all. I told everyone how far it was. Several people thanked me for the directions and found them helpful. Others refrained from walking because that's further than they care to walk. One person, on the way to one of his parties, somehow got lost, and phoned for pickup. Nobody had ever blamed me for this until now. As for who Ted White is, he's been a WSFA member off and on for over fifty years, and was the club's president for a while in the 1950s. He won a Hugo for best fan writer, and has been the fan guest of honor at several cons. He will be on the program at Capclave. See http://scifiinc.net/scifiinc/gallery/bio/White,_Ted.htm There should also be a brief bio of him in the Capclave program book. In case it wasn't obvious, the message I sent last night which set Chuck off was intended to be humorous. Either I messed up, or Chuck has no sense of humor. As for Mensa, Chuck neglected to mention that they also accept high school SAT scores, so if you want to join you can save the $30 if you did well on that test. When I was a teenager, I spent a couple months' allowance on a test to join Mensa, after I saw an ad of theirs in a magazine. I followed the directions, sent in the answer sheet, and eagerly awaited my membership card. Instead, I got a letter saying that I passed, and that this qualified me to spend *more* money to take *another* test! That soured me on the idea of joining Mensa. That was a long time ago, but nothing has changed my opinion of that group for the better since then.
