I issue a friendly invitation. I acknowledge the conflict with Capclave. There's nothing I can do about the conflict. > > What do I get? A reply from Keith I can only describe as insulting and consdescending. Ditto from Ted. ======= *My* response to your follow-up post in which you raged on about Keith, was this (in whole): "'Narrowness' is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. This post is Strike Two, as far as I'm concerned. Again, not very smart. Keith has reiterated (at least once a month) that he accepts only plain text email for this list. Most of us live with this quite comfortably. And our posts here aren't littered with extraneous symbols." "Insulting"? "Condescending"? There have been far more insulting posts to this list, one of which was from, what was his name? Oh yes: Chuck Divine. I was in fact responding to that post. ======= [...] > So, Ted, you're a pro and a big name fan. You once edited Amazing. Yes, I've heard of it. I might have even read an issue or two. The world of SF is huge. SF is hardly a central thing in my life. I think SF is important and interesting -- but it's not, by a long shot, as important and interesting as some people involved with it think it is. > > Ted, let me give you a piece of e-mail etiquette. It's considered improper to post to a general e-mail list a personal message. I was angry -- understandably so, I think -- with your and Keith's evident hostility. I sent the message directly to you. If I had wanted to broadcast the message to the list, I would have done so. You were totally out of line with that posting. ======= I disagree. Your intemperate post was directly in response to my post quoted (by me) above. It began with "I don't know who the hell you are." and ended with "Go to bloody hell." You may characterize yourself as "warm and friendly," but that's not the face you presented to me. I felt other members of this list deserved to see how you responded to posts on the list from people you claimed you didn't know. Plus, you pissed me off. You'll just have to live with the consequences of that, won't you? You add, in your present post, "I've been reducing my involvement in SF fandom for at least a decade." I'd suggest that you've found a sure-fire, guaranteed way to do that. --Ted White
