good for the folks that live in Virginia those of us that live in Maryland
have a much longer haul to get there. I realize that having it in one
place is a plus but when you are dealing with a region as large as ours I
do think you need to move it back and forth between the two states and
possibly DC if we can afford it. I suspect anything in DC is out of our
price range.

Well, the first three Capclaves *were* in Maryland -- the last two in
Silver Spring -- so I was happy to have one closer to me in Virginia this
time, especially with a 7:00 PM Friday program item that left me with
little time to get home from work (in DC), grab a quick snack, and head out
for the convention. I figure we have at least two more Virginia Capclaves
coming, just to even the balance.

But of course the real problem is finding a suitable hotel and building a
long-term relationship with it -- wherever it's located. We had several
Disclaves in DC in the '90s (well, at least two), and World Fantasy Con was
in DC last year at, I think, a former Disclave hotel. But I don't know
how practical a DC hotel would be for a Capclave, especially at its present
size. Others can speak to this better than I.
