One should only go to graduate school if one knows what one wants to do with the degree and has at least some experience (at least an internship) so that one has a basis for knowing it. I know too many people who went to law school because they didn't know what they wanted to do after college who then wound up not practicing law. Second, do the reasearch in your area of specialty. A school's general reputation (usually based on the undergraduate program) is less important than the reputation in the field you want to study. If you want to study real-estate law, look at the offerings (and the professors) in real-estate law. And ask about what percent of students who graduate finish. Third, look at the requirements. How many credits are required, how many years do they allow students etc.
