There have been enough other documented cases (remember the Ramirez
cartoon?) that it's not totally out of the question.

If you insist on sources with the proper politics, Jerry Pournelle has
been cataloging security excesses for a while now.  Unfortunately, it's
pretty near impossible to find anything on his site,
<www.jerrypournelle.com>  It wouldn't surprise me if he's had something
to say about it.
