I'm convinced that glass lenses remain legal; I bought a single glass
replacement lens earlier this year.  Perhaps what has been made illegal
is not hardening glass lenses for eyeglasses.  Today the glass lenses are
put through a surface hardening process, and individually subjected to a
ball drop test.
