The 1996 Worldcon, hosted by SCIFI in the L.A. area, used
rats mostly during the bid phase. SCIFI also had a "rat"
theme for the 1984 Worldcon that they hosted. Both 1984
and 1996 were the Year of the Rat in the Chinese calendar.
